Remotal
The remote stays on your network.
Effective 23 October 2026. Remotal is not on the App Store yet. This is the policy for the app as it is being prepared, and it will be updated if the product changes before release.
What the app is
Remotal is an iPhone remote for televisions you choose. It finds sets on the local network and sends the commands you tap: navigation, playback, text, and, on LG and Samsung, a pointer. The product page lists which systems are full remotes and which controls exist on each one.
Permissions
Local Network is how the app finds a television and sends a command. Without it, discovery does not run. You can still add a set by its address when the app is allowed to use the network.
Photos is used when you choose to cast a photo or a video, and when you save a picture of an LG television. The app does not read the library for any other purpose.
Siri is used when you run a Shortcut, such as volume, power, or playback, on the last paired television.
Where commands go
A command goes from the iPhone to the television on the network you are using. It is not sent to a Cue account server. There is no Remotal account to create.
What is stored on the phone
The app keeps what it needs to remember your sets, such as a name and the address it uses to reach that television, on the device. Deleting the app removes that local copy.
What this policy does not claim
The shipping app may add a bug report you choose to send, or a purchase handled by Apple. If either is in the released version, this page will say so before the App Store link goes up. Advertising trackers are not part of the app as prepared.
The product page
Which televisions, which pointer, and which keyboard are described on the Remotal page. This policy does not add a promise those sections do not make.
