Everything Remotal can do

The remote, the touch pad and the keyboard. Your TV's apps and a number pad. Pairing over Wi-Fi, Siri and Shortcuts, and the settings behind them.

The remote

The face is one remote. Power, the TV menu, TV apps and a number pad sit at the top. Play, pause and skip. Volume and channel. A directional pad with OK. Back, Home and Mute. A keyboard button, and a touch pad for swiping around menus.

Available features depend on what your TV supports

Try your own TV during the 14-day free trial, or explore every key on the free Demo TV with no TV at all.

Power and menus

Power, the TV menu and the TV's own apps screen, one tap each, along the top row.

Directional pad and OK

A large pad with OK in the middle, plus Back and Home right below it.

Volume and channel

A volume control and Channel up and down, plus Mute.

Playback

Rewind, play or pause, and fast forward.

Input

Switch the TV's input from the remote.

Haptics

Every key can answer with a light tap. Turn it off in Settings if you prefer.

On LG webOS TVs

The remote also shows H1 to H4 for HDMI 1 to 4, an info key, and a pointer you can move with the touch pad or aim with the phone (air mouse).

The touch pad

Swipe around menus with the touch pad instead of tapping arrows one tile at a time.

Touch pad

Swipe on the pad to move around the TV's menus. It is on the remote and on the keyboard sheet.

TVs without a pointer

On TVs without a pointer, the air-mouse button is hidden and the pad steps one tile at a time.

Air mouse on LG webOS TVs

On LG webOS TVs you can turn on the air mouse from the pad, then point the top of the phone at the screen and move it. Sensitivity is in Settings, from 0.5× to 3×, and the pointer re-zeroes itself every 5 seconds.

Keyboard

Every remote has a keyboard button. Type with your iPhone keyboard, including iCloud Passwords AutoFill, or with Siri. What you type goes straight to the TV.

Text and Password

Switch between Text and Password modes on the keyboard sheet.

iCloud Passwords AutoFill

Sign in to apps on the TV with a password your iPhone already knows.

Type with Siri

Ask Siri to type on the TV instead of using the keys.

Edit keys

Delete, Clear, Select All and Enter sit right under the text field.

Touch pad on the same sheet

Move to the next field without closing the keyboard.

Auto-open keyboard

A switch on the keyboard sheet and in Settings. When it is off, the keyboard opens only from the keyboard button.

On LG webOS TVs

The keyboard can open by itself when the TV is asking for text. You can turn that on or off.

Apps and numbers

Open your TV's apps in one tap, or with Siri. The number pad is for channels and for fields that want digits.

Apps already on your TV

The app buttons are shortcuts to apps already installed on your TV. They are not partnerships with those services.

App logos

To show an app's logo, Remotal looks it up by name. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is sent.

Number pad

Channels, and any field on the TV that wants digits.

Subchannels on LG webOS TVs

On LG webOS TVs, the number pad has a dash for subchannels such as 2.1.

Devices and pairing

Devices and the remote are the two main places in Remotal. Find your TV on the Wi-Fi, pair once, and switch TVs whenever you like.

Same Wi-Fi, Local Network on

Your iPhone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi. Guest and isolated networks won't work. Allow Local Network access when iOS asks. Your TV's network remote feature must be on.

Find the TV

Remotal looks for compatible TVs on your Wi-Fi. You can rescan from Devices or from Settings. If yours doesn't show up, tap + and choose Add TV by IP.

Pair once

Accept the prompt or enter the code shown on your TV. In most setups, Remotal reconnects without asking again.

More than one TV

Switch between them from Devices. Each TV keeps its own pairing.

If the list is empty

A checklist is on screen: same Wi-Fi, Local Network permission, the TV awake, then Rescan or Add TV by IP. There is also a button that opens iOS Settings.

Try a demo TV

No TV nearby? The Demo TV runs the whole remote on the iPhone, offline. It is always free and needs no trial or purchase.

No account, no server

Commands go from your iPhone straight to the TV on your local network. There is no Remotal account and no Remotal server.

Resume the last TV

With Sticky connections on, Remotal goes back to the TV you used last when you open it.

Siri and Shortcuts

Say “Volume up on Remotal” or “Mute with Remotal”. More actions are in the Shortcuts app, on your last paired TV.

Volume and mute

Volume up, volume down and mute, by voice.

Navigate

Home, Back, the TV menu and the directional pad, as Shortcuts actions.

Playback

Play, pause, rewind and fast forward.

Open an app

Open an app on the TV by name.

Type on the TV

Send text to the TV from Siri or a shortcut.

Trial and unlock

Siri and Shortcuts work during the free trial and after you unlock Remotal.

Settings and the app

Sheets cover apps, settings, the keyboard and a short introduction. Settings opens from App Setting on the remote's top row.
