CueCalc

Your calculations stay yours.

Effective 4 July 2026. Last updated 18 October 2026. This is the CueCalc policy, the same account as cuecalc.app/privacy.

The short version

CueCalc does not require an account, does not show ads, and does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Calculations are done on your device. Version 1.1 does not use the camera. Some information does leave the device: private iCloud sync when you are signed in to iCloud, live currency and stock quotes when you ask for them, a bug report when you send one, and App Store purchases, which Apple handles. CueCalc does not sell personal information.

1. Information we collect

No account or sign-up. CueCalc does not require a name, email address, or phone number.

No advertising identifier. CueCalc does not use Apple’s IDFA and does not integrate an advertising SDK.

No third-party analytics. CueCalc does not embed Google Analytics, the Facebook SDK, or Firebase Analytics.

What you type — expressions, formulas, names, values, and history — stays in the app. Version 1.1 has no camera scanner and no Scratchpad. Older Scratchpad notes, if a previous version saved them, remain on the device until you delete the app.

2. On the device

Calculations, formulas, history, and settings are stored on your device. They are not transmitted to the developer or to an analytics service unless you export them, iCloud sync is on for your Apple Account, or you include them in a bug report you send. Deleting the app removes the local store, subject to the retention section below.

3. Private iCloud sync

If you are signed in to iCloud, CueCalc syncs history through your private CloudKit database and settings through iCloud Key-Value storage. There is no separate CueCalc account. The developer cannot read that database. Apple encrypts it under Apple’s privacy policy. You can turn sync off in Settings, or turn off iCloud Drive access for CueCalc.

4. Camera

CueCalc 1.1 does not use the camera, does not include an AR math solver, and does not ask for camera permission. Version 1.0 had a camera solver. That feature is not in 1.1.

5. Purchases

CueCalc Pro and the lifetime unlock are billed by Apple through StoreKit. CueCalc does not receive your card number or billing address. It only learns whether your Apple Account holds the entitlement. Cancel and refund through Apple. See the terms at cuecalc.app/terms.

6. Network requests

Almost everything works offline. Currency conversion requests the latest US-dollar rate table from open.er-api.com. The request does not include the amount you typed or your name.

A listed stock or crypto symbol requests a quote from Stooq or CoinGecko, and may fall back to Yahoo Finance. The request is the symbol.

Purchases go through Apple. A bug report is sent only when you submit one: the message, the app version, the iOS version, and the device model. CueCalc posts that report to Formspree, which delivers it.

7. Sharing

Calculations, Cues, and history are not sold or shared for advertising. Apple handles iCloud, the App Store, and any crash report you opt into through iOS. The rate services see only the lookup described above. Formspree receives a bug report only when you submit one.

8. Retention and deletion

History, formulas, and settings stay while the app is installed, or until you delete an entry. Deleting the app removes the local store. The 7-day trial record is kept in the device keychain and can remain after the app is deleted.

An iCloud copy stays in your private database until you delete it in the app, turn sync off, or remove it in Settings, Apple Account, iCloud, Manage Account Storage, CueCalc.

9. Children

CueCalc is a general utility. It is not directed at children under 13, and it does not ask for an account. If a bug report includes a child’s information, write to privacy@cuecalc.app.

10. Your rights

If you are in the UK, the EEA, or the EU, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.

If you are in California, you can ask what personal information is collected and ask for deletion. CueCalc does not sell or share personal information. You will not be treated differently for asking.

Almost everything lives on your device or in your private iCloud, so deleting it there is the direct route. For anything else, write to privacy@cuecalc.app.

11. International transfers

CueCalc is on the App Store in many countries. On-device data generally stays on the device. iCloud is Apple’s infrastructure. CueCalc does not run a separate international transfer of that data.

12. Security

CueCalc relies on iOS encryption and Apple’s iCloud encryption. No app can promise absolute security. Keeping data on the device is the main protection.

13. Changes

The policy can change. The date at the top is the latest revision. Material changes are also noted in the App Store release notes.
